Ingredients
  

For the Margarita
  • 2 oz Blanco Tequila (good quality such as Patron, Don Julio, Lost Altos, or Espolon silver tequila) Use a good quality tequila for the best taste.
  • ½ oz Agave Nectar
  • ½ oz Fresh Lime Juice (freshly squeezed) Use fresh lime juice instead of bottled for a brighter flavor.
  • oz Bubbly Orange Soda Pop (such as Fanta, Jarritos Mandarin, or Sunkist) Experiment with different brands to find your favorite flavor.
  • 1 tsp Black or Orange Sanding Sugars
  • 1 tsp Coarse Salt
  • 1 slice Fresh Orange or Lime Wheels (for garnish)
  • 1 each Skull Cocktail Skewers (optional for decor) Use for a decorative touch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Grab a small plate and add 1 tsp black sanding sugar and 1 tsp coarse sea salt.
  2. Swipe the rim of your rocks glass with a fresh wedge of lime, then dip the glass into the mixture to coat the rim and set aside.
Mixing
  1. In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh lime juice, agave nectar, and 2 oz of good quality silver tequila.
  2. Fill the shaker halfway with fresh ice, cover, and shake vigorously.
Serving
  1. Pour the shaken mixture into the prepared rocks glass, ice included.
  2. Top off with 1½ to 2 oz of the orange soda pop to taste.
  3. Garnish with fresh lime or orange wheels and serve immediately while cold.

Notes

Best enjoyed immediately for optimal carbonation. Can be stored in the fridge for a few hours, but may go flat.
