Ingredients
  

Puff Pastry
  • 3 pieces rectangular puff pastries Make sure they are well-baked and crispy.
Pastry Cream
  • 500 ml milk Use whole milk for creamier texture.
  • 4 pieces egg yolks
  • 100 g sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 40 g cornstarch
  • 1 pieces vanilla bean Or use 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
  • 30 g butter Adds richness to the cream.
Decoration and Garnish
  • Icing sugar for decoration
  • Icing: icing sugar + a bit of water + cocoa For marbling effect.
  • Grilled slivered almonds Optional for garnish.

Method
 

Prepare the Puff Pastry
  1. Roll out the puff pastry and prick it with a fork.
  2. Bake it at 180°C for 15-20 minutes until it turns golden and crispy.
  3. Let it cool completely.
Prepare the Pastry Cream
  1. Heat the milk with the vanilla to infuse the flavor.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with sugar, then add the cornstarch.
  3. Gradually pour the hot milk over the egg mixture while whisking.
  4. Return the mixture to heat and stir until it thickens.
  5. Remove from heat, add the butter, mix well, and let it cool.
Assembly
  1. Cut the cooled puff pastries into regular rectangles.
  2. Start layering with one piece of pastry, spread on some pastry cream, add another pastry, repeat with more cream, and finish with the last pastry layer.
  3. Lightly press down to level everything.
Decoration
  1. Cover the top layer with white icing made from icing sugar and a little water.
  2. For a decorative touch, use chocolate or cocoa to draw lines on the icing and swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  3. If desired, stick grilled slivered almonds on the sides for added crunch.

Notes

Serve chilled for about 2 hours before enjoying for best flavor. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to two days.
