how to make Frankenstein Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups rice krispie cereal
  • One 10oz bag mini marshmallows
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 10 oz green candy melts
  • 3 oz black candy melts
  • Royal icing eyes
  • Black jimmies sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Butter a 9" x 13" casserole dish.
  2. In a large pot over low-medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add the marshmallows and stir until smooth.
  4. Pour in the rice krispie cereal and, with a spatula, stir until the cereal is evenly coated with marshmallows.
  5. Spoon the mixture into the prepared casserole dish and press until the rice krispies fill the dish and the top is flat.
  6. Allow to set for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the cooled rice krispie treats from the dish and cut into rectangles of various sizes.
  8. Place a bowl over a small pot of boiling water and add the green candy melts to it. Stir until melted. If the chocolate is too thick for dipping, add a teaspoon of vegetable shortening.
  9. Dip the top of each rice krispie treat into the green candy melts and then into the black jimmies sprinkles.
  10. Add two royal icing eyes.
  11. In a small bowl, melt the black candy melts in the microwave using 10-15 second increments.
  12. Pour into a piping bag and pipe stitches onto the treats.
  13. Allow to set completely before packaging.

how to serve Frankenstein Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

Serve these spooky treats on Halloween-themed plates or platters for fun. You can also wrap them individually in clear bags tied with orange or black ribbons. how to store Frankenstein Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for about 3-4 days. If you want to keep them longer, you can refrigerate them, but note that the texture may change slightly. Make sure to bring them back to room temperature before serving.

tips to make Frankenstein Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

  • Make sure to press the rice krispie mixture firmly into the dish. This will help the treats hold their shape when you cut them.
  • If you have leftover candy melts, you can drizzle them on top of the treats for extra flair.
  • Use different colored candy melts for a variation on the theme—think mummies or ghosts!

variation

You can use chocolate rice krispie cereal for a darker version of these treats. Also, try adding sprinkles or candy corn for extra decoration. Instead of royal icing eyes, consider using small candies or chocolate chips.
